NEW PAVILION PROJECT
The New Pavilion

History: 2006 - 2018
For twelve years the sub-committee has been trying to find the funding for a new combined sports pavilion and community hall. Efforts have included two major funding applications to the Big Lottery. Various designs have been considered. The latest of these indicated a likely build cost of £430k for a pavilion with a modest amount of community space and a build cost of over £800k for a building which would function as a combined pavilion and fully functional community hall.
The necessary funding has not been forthcoming.
current design plan:
We have adopted a new design for a traditional wooden built pavilion which will be built by a team of local tradesman and thus the money we raise is spent locally. This design further reduces the cost and we are now focused on raising the balance of funding needed to get the new building up in 2023/4. It will provide proper changing facilities for the sports teams that use the field plus a modest community space for clubs and meetings with the attendant facilities.
Where Now?

We have engaged with the Community Council for Somerset to engage their professional help in achieving the balance of funding we need and hopefully that will bear fruit by mid 2023.

We have also engaged a planning consultant to steer our planning application through the various hurdles and hope to achieve planning consent by Easter 2023

We continue to look at options for the siting of the new building to make sure we are optimizing the site to the benefit of as much of the community as possible and lessen any visual or noise pollution for those neighboring the field.
